Mobilizing Against J7: Your Voice Matters

Dear Neighbors,

We have important updates to share regarding our ongoing battle against the proposed J7 Ready Mix Plant. Our community's collective efforts have made a significant impact, and it's crucial to stay informed and engaged.

Public Meeting with TCEQ

Mark your calendars for December 11, 2023, at 7:00 pm, as we gather at the Anchora Event Center (403 E. Broad Street, Mansfield, TX 76063) for a Public Meeting with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). This is a pivotal moment in our fight, and your presence is vital.

Public Comment Period Reopened

The public comment period is now open (again) until the conclusion of the December 11 meeting. Please submit your comments as early as possible and encourage others to do the same. Anyone, regardless of location, can contribute.

Numerous comments were posted on 9/15, but unfortunately, they were not considered in the review process. Surprisingly, TCEQ closed the comment period a day earlier than anticipated. If you submitted a comment on 9/15, please resubmit it. If you're uncertain, resubmit it anyway. If you'd like a copy of your original comment for reference, just let us know, and we will provide it. We now have a 30-day extension, and possibly more.

Visit TCEQ e-Comments and use permit number 172856. Let's flood their inboxes with our concerns.

When submitting your public comment, it is imperative that you keep your concerns limited to the hazardous air pollution concerns linked to the proposed plant. TCEQ is not concerned about traffic or road conditions, nor are they concerned with noise pollution, light pollution or water pressure issues. This is first and foremost an air quality concern and the health problems this plant will inevitably cause many of our neighbors and loved ones, so ensure your comments align with this central theme.

TCEQ Notification to J7

State Representative David Cook received a letter on November 7, 2023, highlighting J7's failure to meet public notice requirements. TCEQ has urged J7 to rectify this, emphasizing that non-compliance could lead to a voidance of their application. The comment period will be extended once J7 fulfills the notification requirements, so we are closely monitoring the situation and will provide timely updates as we receive information. You can see a copy of the letter on Facebook.

Yeti Coolers Drawing

Our Yeti coolers drawing closes on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at noon so you still have time to order your raffle ticket(s). Good luck to all participants! Your support is instrumental in our ongoing efforts.
